How Orange People Can Give You TNS

>> Tuesday, January 18, 2011

Recently I have come across some questionable photography but also a lot of kind advice of why NOT to be so critical of others' work.

For instance that person could be just starting out and still learning their craft.
Maybe they just need some guidance.
They could be portfolio-building.
Good taste isn't something that clients are born with.

Who knows, but all I do know is that there should be a ban of normal people looking like oompa loompas in photographs where they weren't meant to be in costume. I still have freedom of speech so I will say it, some people need to reevaluate their career pathway when their product looks worse than when my son uses his 1.3 mega pixel Mickey Mouse camera.

This:

Has produced this from a three yr old :

( I'll grant you it's not a picture of people but at least the colors are right)
Legally and morally I can not use the actual photos that irk me so I will purposefully "mess" up some of my own photos to "replicate" the edit styles I'm going to rant about.

1. The Oompa Loompa?

The offender :

My original: (taken with my Canon Rebel XSi  three days after the purchase I sure was a rookie and still consider myself one.)

2. Rudolph the red faced kid? (mostly babies but unfortunately at this time I could not find a suitable example so I'll use my own kid)
The offender:

The original: (yes kids have red skin and so do some adults but they need not be Cinnamon Imperials there should be a balance between that and "normal")

3. The grand daddy of all my peeves is that photo that causes TNS, you know what photo I'm talking about and I'll leave the example out in this case because I refuse to recreate it as I don't want people to suffer TNS on my blog. Now what exactly is TNS? Don't you remember? Well here's a refresher :

I am certain that there is a possibilty that orange people can give you TNS but that would be an absolute nightmare.

Here are some fixes:

Changes

>> Monday, January 10, 2011

I have officially entered the third trimester of my third pregnancy. week 25 It seems it was only yesterday I was announcing that I had a positive pregnancy test. But time sure flies and even more when huge changes are about to take place. Our lives yet again, are going to be turned upside down. These are not only small changes that are going to happen but catastrophic ones.

The end of this month marks the beginning of my husband's 6th (?) deployment, yes the ? is there because believe it or not I have lost count. This is the life of the Army family, we just put up and in my case "shut up". I'm not much of a complainer, life taught me to be self sufficient and it is actually one of the things my husband loves about me the most. Don't get me wrong, I sure like to be pampered and treated like a queen but it gets old fast! At lest for me it does. I'm a big girl and I can mow the lawn on my own, fix a broken toilet handle, check the oil on my vehicle, get the finances in order, and take care of the kids. Army wives are SUPER MOM's didn't you know that?
Being pregnant doesn't make things any different, the Army will still take my husband half a world away, and make our routine hectic. Between taking care of business and video chat sessions that break our hearts in a million pieces, the year will go fast. Before we know it Miguel will be back home enjoying his bigger family.

I'm back!

>> Wednesday, December 15, 2010

Well I'm back after being long gone and have lots of news to share and update my handful of followers.

1. My dear little sister had her beautiful son on August 10, 2010 I had the privilege to be by her side after a failed induction. Isvi Bradley Cantu was born via C-Section. A gorgeous big boy weighing in at 7lbs 11.8 oz. I was deeply moved to be the first person (besides hospital staff) to hold him. he was all bundled like a burrito, warm and snug, with eyes still closed but he had let out his first cries and was ready to take on the world.

Of course having an aunt who loves to take pictures Isvi had to succumb to being a newborn model, he was awesome and slept the entire time :) giving me the opportunity to create these beautiful photos.

2. Three days after my nephew's birth I found out that I too was going to have a baby, I had a feeling it could be but of course I was not a psychic and I had to test to make sure. For those of you that know me personally, then you understand why getting a positive pregnancy test doesn't mean I'm jumping up and down with joy, instead a time of worry and uncertainty. Somehow this third time around I felt confident, having lived through the horrible experience of loving a baby and then not bringing him home,  then followed by a beautiful pregnancy and a precious 4yr old by my side things seem to be balanced, I know how to prepare for both cases.

I'm currently 21wks pregnant and we are expecting another boy, we have decided on his name but it certainly is the only thing we have prepared for. Jiraiya Alejandro will come into this world mid April of 2011. Under bittersweet circumstances as we are still unsure of the possibility of Miguel being here for the birth.
